Why do people make their vegetable garden in a raised bed instead of just in the ground?

I want to start a vegetable garden but I am not sure if I need to have a raised bed or if I can just plant my vegetables in the ground with good soil.

   The ground till up faster and it is also helpful for weeding since you dont have to bend over as far but yes you dont have to bend over as far but yes you can enable you dont have to bend.

   There are several reasons.. They want a compact garden space…Their soil stinks and they can use good soil in a small area They are old like me and it is a small space with good production and saves my back
